Anal skin tag removal in Dubai — a short day-case procedure under local anaesthetic.
Also called perianal skin tags, anal tags or skin tabs.
Anal skin tags are small, soft folds of skin at the edge of the anus. Most are what remains after a thrombosed external hemorrhoid or a perianal thrombosis has healed: the swelling settles, but the stretched skin stays behind. They are harmless, but they can make cleaning harder, catch on underwear, and many people simply do not like how they look. Removing them is quick and done without a general anaesthetic.
- Technique: cautery excision — the tag is removed and the skin edge sealed in one step
- Anaesthesia: local anaesthetic, with light sedation if you are anxious
- Price: from AED 2,500 under local anaesthesia, from AED 4,000 with sedation (cautery excision)
- Laser excision on request: additional AED 1,000 – 2,000, charged on top of the procedure price
- Examination first: needed to confirm the diagnosis, charged separately
Is it a skin tag or an external hemorrhoid?
The two can look almost identical from the outside, and they are not treated the same way. That is why an examination always comes before a price or a date.
What a skin tag usually is
A soft, painless, skin-coloured flap at the anal margin that does not change size. Most perianal skin tags are the leftover, sac-like skin extension from an earlier thrombosed external hemorrhoid or perianal thrombosis — a painful lump that settled weeks or months ago.
What the examination checks
Whether the lump is truly excess skin, or an external hemorrhoid, a tag sitting next to an anal fissure, or something else that needs a different treatment. If a fissure or hemorrhoid is found, it is better treated first or at the same time — otherwise the tag can return.
How anal skin tag removal is done
- 1Before the day
Examination and plan
The surgeon confirms the lumps are skin tags, counts them, and agrees with you which ones to remove and which technique to use.
- 2On the day
Local anaesthetic
The area is numbed with local anaesthetic. Light sedation is available if you would rather be drowsy and relaxed. No general anaesthetic is needed.
- 3Removal
Cautery excision (or laser on request)
Each tag is removed at its base and the skin edge is sealed with cautery at the same time. If you prefer, laser excision can be used instead.
- 4Afterwards
Home the same day
You go home the same day with written aftercare, pain relief and a follow-up appointment.
Cautery excision — standard
An electrocautery instrument removes the tag and seals the small blood vessels in the same movement. This is the technique included in the starting prices: AED 2,500 under local anaesthesia and AED 4,000 with sedation.
Laser excision — on request
A diode laser fibre is used to cut and seal instead of cautery. It is available if you ask for it, as an additional charge of AED 1,000 – 2,000 on top of the procedure price, depending on the extent. Both techniques remove the tag; the surgeon will tell you honestly whether laser adds anything in your case.
How much does anal skin tag removal cost in Dubai?
Clear figures before you book.
- Cautery excision: from AED 2,500 under local anaesthesia, from AED 4,000 with sedation
- Laser excision (optional): additional AED 1,000 – 2,000 on top of the procedure price
- Examination: charged separately, before the procedure
Insurance. When skin tags are removed for appearance, insurers usually treat it as cosmetic and most patients pay directly. If your tags cause symptoms, send a photo of your insurance card on WhatsApp and we will tell you whether a claim is worth submitting — but we cannot promise what a policy will pay. What patients ask before booking
Can I have skin tags removed just because I don't like how they look?
Yes. Many patients ask for removal for appearance and comfort rather than for any medical problem. That is a perfectly good reason. The examination is still needed first, to make sure the lump really is a skin tag.
Does it hurt?
The area is numbed with local anaesthetic, and light sedation is available if you are nervous. Some soreness afterwards is expected; you go home with pain relief and clear aftercare instructions.
Do I need a general anaesthetic or a hospital stay?
No. It is done under local anaesthetic, with or without light sedation, as a day case. You go home the same day.
Will the skin tags come back?
A tag that has been removed does not grow back. New tags can form if another thrombosed hemorrhoid or perianal thrombosis happens later, which is why any underlying hemorrhoid or fissure found at examination is worth treating too.
Why can't you give me a final price on WhatsApp?
Because the price depends on how many tags there are and how large they are, and because a skin tag and an external hemorrhoid can look the same. The starting price is AED 2,500 under local anaesthesia and AED 4,000 with sedation; the exact figure is confirmed after examination.
